The Division provides Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Inspection, Integrated Condition Monitoring, Materials Engineering Consulting, Mechanical Testing, Asset Management, Heat Treatment and Shutdown Planning & Execution Services to asset owners, operators, constructors and contractors in the Power, Oil & Gas / Petrochemical, Minerals Processing, Mining & Materials Handling and Water & Infrastructure industries.

PowerPower
In over fifty years working with the power industry, ALS Industrial has developed relationships with many major constructors, operators and maintainers of power generation assets in Australia

OilOil & Gas / Petrochemical
The Industrial Division has been working with the onshore and offshore oil and gas producers, refineries and downstream chemical process industries in Australia for over fifty years. In the oil and gas industry, ALS Industrial has the longest track record for continuous contracted service delivery of any company in Australia providing inspection services.

MineralsMinerals Processing
The division has established very close relationships with the mineral processors of Australia. The Industrial Division has worked with customers from the construction phase of their plant to ensure its integrity upon commissioning and then continued to provide ongoing condition monitoring and maintenance.

MiningMining & Materials Handling
Since the start of large scale open cut mining in Australia's Bowen Basin in the 1970s, ALS Industrial has been providing services to the owners and operators of mines, mining equipment, processing plants, materials handling plants and ship loaders.

WaterWater & Infrastructure
Efficient and effective operation and maintenance of water infrastructure is essential to ensuring water sustainability. The Industrial Division has established a track record working with water asset managers to develop innovative inspection and maintenance techniques.

Heritage
The ALS Industrial Division was established following the acquisition of PearlStreet Limited in January 2010. PearlStreet was the largest Non Destructive Testing & Inspection service provider in Australia, formed through industry consolidation - Integrated Power Services (IPS), ETRS, Metlabs, Australian NDT and Accura.

IPS
Integrated Power Services (IPS) was established to maintain Western Power Corporation's (now Verve Energy) gas turbines.

ETRS
ETRS was established in 1957 as Engineering Testing & Research Services to provide asset integrity and inspection services.

NDT
Australian NDT was established to provide testing and inspection services to the Latrobe Valley and Western Melbourne.

Accura
Accura Analytical Laboratories is the main coal and water testing services provider to Western Australia's coal and electricity industry.

META Labs
Metlabs was established in 1955 to provide testing and analysis of machinery and equipment.

Remaining life assessment of pressure components: High temperature pressure equipment is subject to deterioration by fatigue and creep. AS3788 provides guidance for the assessment of the condition of pressure equipment to establish the safe remaining life. The assessment should be carried out when the component has reached 60% of its design life. Components that have no qualified design life should be assessed before 100,000 hours of operation.

Acoustic Emission: In simple terms, Acoustic Emission (AE) testing is to an integrity engineer what a stethoscope is to a doctor. AE instrumentation is designed to detect the structural or liquid born sound generated by a source within a material. The sound can be caused by crack initiation or extension, crack tip yielding, corrosion product spalling, turbulent flow or leakage, friction or fretting, matrix cracking, delamination, disbonding or fibre breakage. AE testing is totally non-intrusive and its ability to assess the integrity of assets while they are still in service provides major benefits to asset owners and operators.
